Carol (10th Anniversary)

New York, early 1950s. Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara) works in a department store in Manhattan and dreams of a more fulfilling life when she meets Carol Aird (Cate Blanchett), an alluring woman trapped in a failed marriage. The spark is immediate, and as the innocence of their first encounter fades, their connection deepens. When Carol's affair with Therese comes to light, Carol's husband retaliates by contesting her suitability as a mother. Carol and Therese feel compelled to escape the situation and embark on a spontaneous journey across America. An unexpected event turns both of their lives upside down.

Carol was nominated for 6 Oscars 10 years ago, including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actress (Blanchett), and Best Supporting Actress (Mara). Rooney Mara won the Best Actress award at Cannes for her role. The film has since become a true (Christmas) classic.
