Blue Moon

March 31, 1943. It is the opening night of Oklahoma!, the musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. Lorenz Hart, Rodgers' former partner, watches as the immediate success of the show causes his private and professional life to fall apart. Tormented by alcohol and regret and surrounded by the excitement and music of the evening, Hart has one last chance to revive his collaboration with Rodgers. 

Lorenz Hart was one of the most influential American songwriters of his time. Together with Richard Rodgers, he wrote 28 musicals (including A Connecticut Yankee and Babes in Arms) and over 500 songs (such as Blue Moon and My Funny Valentine), infused with timeless melodies and emotional depth. While Rodgers went on to form the most successful duo in American musical history with Hammerstein after Oklahoma!, Hart's life ended just a few months later at the age of 48. In Blue Moon, Richard Linklater shows how, in one night, the lives of some of America's greatest songwriters change forever, accompanied by the iconic music. 

Blue Moon is directed by Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater (Boyhood), featuring an impressive cast, including Ethan Hawke (Boyhood, The Before Trilogy), Margaret Qualley (The Substance, Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood), Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers, Fleabag), and Bobby Cannavale (The Irishman).
