  • Jim Jarmusch’s Gimme Danger tells the story of The Stooges and their frontman Iggy Pop — one of the greatest rock ’n’ roll bands of all time.

Punk is dead! Iggy is alive and kicking.

Director Jim Jarmusch has made a documentary about one of the greatest bands of all time: Iggy & The Stooges. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in the midst of the cultural revolution of the 1960s, The Stooges’ powerful and aggressive rock ’n’ roll style blasted a crater into the musical landscape. They hit audiences hard with a mix of rock, blues, R&B, and free jazz, laying the foundation for what would later become known as punk and alternative rock. To this day, frontman Iggy Pop (78) embodies the punk spirit and his radical artistry through his electrifying performances. The documentary presents the rise of The Stooges in their musical, cultural, political, and historical context, showcasing their adventures, hardships, and sources of inspiration.
