A Christmas classic in the making about a teacher who has to stay at school during the Christmas holidays with a teenager who has nowhere to go.
In The Holdovers by the acclaimed director Alexander Payne (Sideways, Nebraska), a grumpy teacher (brilliantly played by Paul Giamatti) must remain on campus at a prestigious American high school during the Christmas holidays to supervise the handful of students who have nowhere else to go. Contrary to expectations, he forms a bond with one of the students – a clever troublemaker with issues – and the head of the school kitchen, who has recently lost her son in Vietnam.
The film has been nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor, and earned Da’Vine Joy Randolph the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. The Holdovers is a Christmas classic in the making!
