Every year, eight foreign artists are given a working period at ARE, Artist Residency Enschede. They can work undisturbed for three months, meet local artists, and be inspired by the surroundings. For 2019, Ho Sangun from Seoul (South Korea) is bringing HOSANGUN REPRODUCTION OFFICE to Concordia.
In this project, Ho Sangun will seek out stories from residents of Enschede. The stories will be told, and Ho will draw them. This will ultimately result in an exhibition of very personal stories, dreams, and events from residents of Enschede.
Ho does not speak Dutch, so the stories must be told in English, which is not the native language of either the artist or the narrator. The ‘translation’ or distortion may therefore not be entirely accurate, but it will certainly result in some very special drawings.
