Call Me By Your Name as part of our Book and Film series
The sensitive and cultured Elio is the only child of the American-Italian-French Perlman family. He looks forward to another lazy summer at his parents' villa in the beautiful and quiet Italian countryside. Then Oliver arrives, an academic who comes to assist his father with research. A sudden and intense romance develops between the adolescent boy and the summer guest on the Italian Riviera. This award-winning adaptation of André Aciman's novel of the same name is directed by Italian filmmaker Guadagnino.
Concordia and Library Enschede are collaborating to organize an evening of 'Book and Film'. During the 'Book and Film' evening, there will be a post-discussion with Janneke Blenke, where she will address how the themes from the award-winning adaptation of André Aciman's novel have been translated to the big screen.
Janneke Blenke studied English language and literature and has been working in education for over fifteen years, teaching various language and writing courses. The film premieres on Thursday, March 12, but there is a special screening on Monday, March 30. It's also interesting if you haven't read the book!
