De Gaulle: Liberté

June 1940. France surrenders to the German army and signs the armistice. Amid the chaos, one man refuses to come to terms with the situation: General de Gaulle. As a newly minted enemy of the state, he flees – without military support or hope – to London to pick up the pieces of his fallen homeland. De Gaulle has one unwavering belief: a new free France and Europe that will not lay down its arms against Nazi Germany. 

After “Résistance,” the story of Charles de Gaulle continues in “Liberté,” the second and concluding part of the epic diptych directed by Antonin Baudry.
