De Gaulle: Résistance

June 1940. France surrenders to the German army and signs the armistice. In the midst of chaos, one man refuses to accept the situation: General Charles de Gaulle. As a freshly branded enemy of the state, he flees - without military support or hope - to London to pick up the pieces of his fallen homeland. De Gaulle has one unshakeable belief: a new free France and a Europe that does not lay down its arms against Nazi Germany. 

De Gaulle: Résistance is the first part of an epic two-part film about the patriotic figure Charles de Gaulle, directed by Antonin Baudry. With his background as a diplomat within the French government, Baudry gives the story a sharp political perspective. The film features both British and French big names, such as Simon Abkarian (Casino Royale) as de Gaulle, Simon Russell Beale (House of the Dragon, The Death of Stalin) as Winston Churchill, and Mathieu Kassovitz (La Haine) as Admiral Darlan. The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2026.
