Due to the heatwave, we will be closed for the next couple of days at the Langestraat after 15:00. All films at the Oude Markt will go ahead as planned; it is wonderfully cool there!

Once a month, we screen an outdoor movie in the courtyard of Craft District Enschede! This year, we are going on a city trip; on July 8, we will depart from Amsterdam and end in Venice on September 1, passing through Tokyo, New York, and Paris. So even for those staying at home, there’s plenty of the world to see this year!
For the final stop of this journey, we dock in Venice. Visit the city once more without contributo di accesso for Nicolas Roeg’s Don't Look Now. Start time: 15 Minutes after sunset.
Nicholas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now (1973) is an intense psychological horror film, based on the novella by Daphne du Maurier, and is regarded as one of the most influential works in the genre.
Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland play Laura and John, a couple mourning the drowning death of their little girl. While staying in Venice for John's work, they are confronted with disturbing signals and coincidences that seem to indicate contact with the afterlife. A clairvoyant woman claims to have seen their daughter, while recurring visual fragments—like a red jacket—slowly blur the line between reality and their perception.
Director Nicolas Roeg is known for his fragmented, unpredictable storytelling style and visually bold approach, which is fully realized in this film. Don’t Look Now constantly builds tension and culminates in a shocking climax that leaves a lasting impression.
Roeg, who began his career as a cameraman on films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Fahrenheit 451, evolved into an eccentric filmmaker with a unique, non-linear style. His work is characterized by psychological complexity and a continuous blending of reality and the unconscious.
