What do you want to show of yourself? That was the question a group of Alifa mothers and young people worked on. This exhibition presents the surprising results.

Alifa and Concordia have been working together for some time to give different groups in the city a chance to experience the value of art and creativity. It offers a break from everyday concerns, or it can focus your attention on a theme that brings you joy or challenges you. To reflect on this and stimulate their own creativity, two Alifa mothers’ groups worked on making art this year, guided by local artists.

One mothers’ group was inspired in a series of workshops by artist Adrie Arendsman. Her studio in Roombeek is a warm space full of art and collected objects, which in itself is a source of inspiration. But the mothers primarily focused on what comes from within themselves. What do you dream of, which themes occupy you, what do you want to express?

A group of young mothers worked under the guidance of Paula Krom on customizing clothing, both their own and their children’s. They were photographed by photographer Willemijn Sieffers, who also taught them how to take even better photos with their mobile phones.

Additionally, several artistic young people contributed independently made work to the exhibition.

Come and see the surprising results of all that inspiration, creativity, and hard work in Concordia’s Art Space. The exhibition is free to visit from November 5 to December 3, 2023.
