  • Personal view of the punk revolution through the memories of Glen Matlock, the original bassist of The Sex Pistols.

In 2026, it will be exactly 50 years since the debut single of The Sex Pistols, Anarchy in the UK, was released. Punk was born: loud, brash, dirty, and rough, and with a raised middle finger, the band caused a real shockwave in the crisis- and unemployment-stricken UK. In this raw film, the original bassist Glen Matlock tells the story, revealing the significant, often surprising role he played in the band's success.

With a wealth of historical footage and interviews, this film, based on Matlock's book of the same name, narrates the formation of the band, the release of the first single, and of the debut album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols. This album, which faced immediate censorship and boycott actions, is now regarded as one of the most important and influential albums in pop history. Narrator Matlock turns out to be surprisingly gentle, miles away from the common image of the brutal Sex Pistols. It’s no wonder he soon clashed with Johnny Rotten. Matlock left the band after the release of the debut album, but his influence is indelible.
