NDT 1 and Sharon Eyal Dance (S-E-D) joined forces for this extensive interpretation of Into the Hairy. Originally created for 7 dancers, the work now brings together 28 dancers and explores the boundaries of contemporary dance by connecting classical dance with underground club culture. The recording, made with 4 different camera angles, appears for the first time on the big screen.
Into the Hairy is a strong, quirky work about the power that arises from vulnerability. The movement language is hypnotic, rhythmic, and elusive – the result of improvised movements that are captured and assembled into an extremely sensory and virtuosic form. Dressed in bodysuits that accentuate every movement and muscle, the dancers create a distant and otherworldly atmosphere, leaving the audience enthralled. Into the Hairy seeks the boundaries of modern dance by connecting classical dance with underground club culture.
