It is 1985, The Cure and Imagination are battling it out in the charts, Kohl and Mitterrand on the world stage. Almost thirteen-year-old Vincent is growing up in a suburb of Paris, where not only the world economy but also his family is in crisis. Father Yves (Louis Garrel) has lost his job but dares not tell anyone. Mother Sandrine (Camille Cottin) longs for a more challenging job after years as a secretary. The tensions often escalate into fierce arguments. While Vincent tries to find his place in a family that is drifting apart, he experiences his first major crush and takes his first steps toward adulthood.
Directors Nakache and Toledano return with a feel-good film that, just like in Intouchables and Hors Normes, does not shy away from social issues but mainly shows how hilarious daily life can be. A cinematic ode to the music, fashion, and radio games of the 80s, but above all, a personal story that is timeless. A teenager discovering himself, and parents rediscovering each other.
