Due to the heatwave, we will be closed for the next couple of days at the Langestraat after 15:00. All films at the Oude Markt will go ahead as planned; it is wonderfully cool there!

Once a month, we screen an outdoor movie in the courtyard of Craft District Enschede! This year we are going on a city trip; on July 8, we depart from Amsterdam and will end in Venice on September 1, via Tokyo, New York, and Paris. So even for those staying at home, there’s plenty of the world to see this year!
For the second stop, we are travelling the longest distance from this tour to visit the nightlife of Tokyo for Sofia Coppola’s Lost In Translation. Start time: 15 Minutes after sunset.
Lost in Translation (2003) by director Sofia Coppola is a poignant and witty film about two lost souls who meet in bustling Tokyo. Actor Bob Harris (Bill Murray) is in Japan for a whiskey commercial, while Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) fills her days while her busy photographer husband is at work. Alienated from their surroundings and searching for meaning, they unexpectedly find recognition in one another.
With a subtle mix of melancholy, dry humor, and beautiful observations about loneliness and connection, Coppola created a modern classic. The film marked Johansson's international breakthrough, features one of Murray's most beloved roles, and is enhanced by a atmospheric soundtrack with music from The Jesus and Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine, among others.
