Clémence (Vicky Krieps) stands at a turning point in her life. After her divorce, she decides to openly embrace her love for women. What feels like liberation to her is seized by her ex-husband as a weapon in the custody battle over their son Paul. What follows is an emotional and legal struggle in which Clémence has to prove not only that she is a good mother but also that her identity should not be a reason to deny her motherhood. As the case drags on, it becomes painfully clear how personal freedom, societal norms, and parental love collide.
Love Me Tender is an intense, layered portrait based on the novel by Constance Debré. A film about autonomy, prejudice, and the price of a honest life.
