Now on view: the group exhibition of six local artists from the Minkmaat studios. Enschede-based artists Afra Willems, Patrick Jonkman, Paulien Wilkinson, Joyce van Heek, Peter Geerts, and Monique Bosman are presenting their work in EXPO3.

    About Minkmaat Studios
The beautiful old school building has been rented out as studio space for visual artists for over 30 years. It houses artists and designers from a wide range of disciplines, including painting, sculpture, leather design (sacred skins), photography and film, (light) installations, musical instruments, furniture, and architectural design. Seven spacious former classrooms are available as workspaces. In the large central corridor, fully renovated, exhibitions are regularly organized.

The school was built in 1895 on commission by the municipality of Enschede and is now a listed municipal monument. Until spring 2019, the building was owned by the municipality, but it has since been acquired by the Stichting de Minkmaatateliers. Management, organization, interior maintenance, and garden upkeep are carried out on a voluntary basis by the board and tenants. The foundation’s main goal is to provide and manage affordable workspaces suitable for professional visual artists. The artists and designers working here contribute to a vibrant cultural climate in both Enschede and the wider Twente region.

    Batterij in the City Center
Recharging and unwinding in the middle of a busy city has long been possible at Concordia’s exhibitions. Now it becomes even clearer with a permanent spot: Batterij! At fixed points in the exhibitions, you can listen to meditations by Gill Bollegraf.
