Concordia aims to present performance as the art of presence; in the literal sense by showcasing live acts, but also in a suggestive way that points to the presence and absence of the artist through an exhibition.
In this exhibition, Concordia has explored how performance work can be visually presented outside of the actual performance itself. How do you preserve a sense of presence once the performance has ended and the artist has departed? Objects, costumes or clothing, the setup, the remnants and traces, all serve as clues that help visitors imagine, recall, or reconstruct the performance. They are extensions of the artist’s body.
The opening took place on Saturday, October 1, from 2:00 PM, with performances by Nina Boas, Ieke Trinks, and Topp & Dubio.
