Céline is looking forward to the arrival of her first child. Only she is not pregnant herself; her wife Nadia will give birth to their daughter in three months. But in order to be legally recognized as the mother, Céline has to adopt her child and prove that she deserves a place in her own daughter's life. In that process, she is asked to gather fifteen statements confirming that she will be a good mother. Under the watchful eye of friends, family, and the law, she searches for her place as a parent. Des preuves d’amour is a touching, yet light and humorous portrait of queer parenthood and the obstacles that come with it.
The film, based on the personal experiences of director Alice Douard, powerfully tells the story from the perspective of the non-pregnant partner in the final phase of pregnancy. The film had its world premiere at the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival and was subsequently shown at events including Film by the Sea and the Roze Filmdagen, where it won the Audience Award.
