  • Schitterende nieuwe film van Joachim Trier (Worst Person in the World) over een vader en dochter die proberen een band op te bouwen.

Nora (played by Renate Reinsve) and her sister Agnes recently lost their mother. When their estranged father, the successful filmmaker Gustav, contacts them again with a film script, he offers Nora the lead role. This is the first step in rebuilding the bond between father and daughters.

After years of no contact, father Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård) knocks on his daughter Nora's door with a surprising request. Gustav is a successful film director and wants Nora to star in his new film, which he wrote especially for her. Nora politely declines, and a few weeks later, the oh-so-special role goes to a young Hollywood star (Elle Fanning). As production gets underway in the old family home, contact slowly re-establishes between Nora, her sister Agnes, and their father, and they must navigate their relationship with him.

Sentimental Value is the new film from Joachim Trier, known for The Worst Person in the World, in which Renate Reinsve also shone. His latest film is another layered and moving psychological drama, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes.
