During the Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week, Overlap is organizing the Sustainable Fashion Art Event in Enschede for the third time. Fashion culture with a touch of activism! Within this context, AKI student Sakamon Triboriruk is exhibiting her work in the "red stairs gallery."
“Squeez in, out” is an environmental piece that explores the architecture, materiality, identity, and social networks in the impoverished neighborhoods of Bangkok. These communities exist along the fault lines of Thailand’s rapid urbanization, shaped by unequal development. They face a dilemma, caught between economic growth, social survival, environmental pressure, and societal judgment.
Sakamon was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and studies at AKI. Through creativity, she investigates the fragile balance between presence and absence, basing her work on social depth while highlighting fleeting moments to create emotional resonance.
In her work “Squeez in, out,” wooden skeletons, sagging textiles, and photographic elements are merged and distorted through multiple perspectives. It portrays an unstable space where adaptation and resilience are inseparably linked, and where the everyday reality of inequality becomes part of the landscape narrative.
