    The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain (2001) by Jean-Pierre Jeunet is a globally beloved French romantic comedy that has received numerous awards and nominations, becoming a modern classic.

     

    In the colorful and fairytale-like Paris of Montmartre, shy waitress Amélie (Audrey Tautou) decides to change her life and quietly improve the happiness of those around her. She helps neighbors and strangers in her own imaginative ways, from a lost childhood memory to love seekers in the city, while cautiously taking the leap into love herself when she meets the mysterious Nino (Mathieu Kassovitz).

     

    With its playful editing, visual inventions, and warm tone, Jeunet sketches an ideal, almost imaginary Paris where anything seems possible. Amélie has become a crowd favorite that won the hearts of millions of viewers.
