Titane

Julia Ducournau
  • Film
  • Unique French scifi horror as part of our monthly Philofilm series

Can you fall in love with a car? Not the smooth and shiny body, but the dark and greasy interior. Titane raises uneasy questions about the relationship between humans and technology. It does so in a confrontational and intense way, drawing on all kinds of cinematic genres to create a mind-boggling trip. It is not only about human-technology relations, though. Titane is about identity, affinity and kinship in general; what it means to be human in a material and bodily way. It is not easy, but well worth the experience.

The movie will me introduced and discussed by Fokke Jan Dijksterhuis.  Fokko Jan Dijksterhuis is a professor extraordinarius, lecturer, and historian of science at the University of Twente.
