  • Monsieur Hulot has designed an experimental camper. Humor arises from delays and miscommunication in a hyper-motorized world.

Traffic follows Monsieur Hulot, a graphic designer at the company Altra, who has designed an experimental, technologically equipped caravan. Together with the vehicle, he travels via the highways of France and Belgium towards the car show in Amsterdam, where the model is to be presented to the public and potential buyers. What should have been a simple and businesslike journey quickly turns into a series of problems: mechanical defects, technical failures, a customs check, and an accident cause ongoing delays…

The film has also been restored in 4K, bringing out the sharpness of modern infrastructure, the vehicles, and the visual details of Tati's choreographed chaos. Traffic is a typical work of Jacques Tati where humor arises from delays, miscommunication, and the fragile illusion of efficiency in a hyper-motorized world.
